Advanced Search Features

NeuroTrials.ai is designed for clinical precision and flexibility. Master these search tools to find exactly the trials you need.

Search Modes

Default Search (OR Logic)

When you type multiple words, the search returns trials containing any of the terms. This is the broadest way to search.

Example tPA alteplase — finds trials mentioning either "tPA" or "alteplase"

AND Search

Use + or and between terms to require all terms to be present.

Example tPA + alteplase or tPA and alteplase — finds trials containing both terms

Exact Phrase

Enclose your query in quotation marks to search for an exact phrase match.

Example "mechanical thrombectomy" — finds trials with that exact phrase

Field-Specific Filters

Narrow your search to specific data fields using the field: syntax. This lets you target exactly where a term appears in the trial record.

Field Syntax What It Searches
Title title:DAWN Trial name / title only
Summary summary:thrombectomy Study summary text
Objective objective:efficacy Study objective / aim
Keywords keywords:stroke Tagged keywords
Year year:2024 Year of publication

Combining Techniques

Mix search modes and field filters for powerful, precise queries.

Field + AND Logic

Example title:stroke + year:2024 — stroke trials published in 2024

Exact Phrase + Field Filter

Example "dual antiplatelet" + keywords:stroke — trials about dual antiplatelet therapy in stroke

Multiple Fields

Example objective:prevention + summary:aspirin + year:2023 — 2023 prevention trials mentioning aspirin
Pro tip: Start broad with a simple keyword search, then refine using field filters and AND logic to narrow down to exactly the trials you need.
